MADE IN MIAMI

OUR STORY

Le Basque began with a simple idea: that an event in the relaxed, tropical paradise of Miami could be as sophisticated and elegant as those in the world’s leading capitals. As Miami itself has evolved into a leading global presence, Le Basque has continued to define its place with the highest standards.

Founded in the early 1990s by Alejandro Muguerza and Ian Perris, and soon after joined by Jim Mozina, Le Basque brought together Basque culinary discipline, classical French technique, and the precision of British service. What started as a bold move from London to a fast-rising Miami quickly became a defining force in the city’s cultural evolution.

For more than three decades, Le Basque has operated at the intersection of gastronomy, design, and hospitality — producing luxury weddings, museum galas, brand launches, presidential events, and private celebrations for the world’s most discerning hosts.

Founder-led and fiercely independent, Le Basque remains guided by the same philosophy that launched it: no templates, no repetition, no compromise. Every event is conceived as a curated sensory environment — original, immersive, and flawlessly executed.

CO-FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Alejandro Muguerza

Born in Havana to a Basque father and Cuban mother, Alejandro Muguerza was raised between Europe and the United States, immersed in a world where food, art, and conversation shaped daily life. Growing up in Spain’s Basque Country — one of the world’s most revered culinary regions — he developed an early reverence for gastronomy, aesthetics, and the transformative power of hospitality.

After studying Law & Economics at the University of Deusto and completing intensive studies in Art History in Florence, Alex lived and worked across Brussels, London, Mexico, New York, and the Hamptons. These experiences refined his understanding of formality, cultural nuance, and the art of hosting at the highest level.

In the early 1990s, he co-founded Le Basque in Miami, bringing together Basque discipline, French culinary technique, and a distinctly European sense of refinement. Today, Alex remains the creative force behind the company — known for his encyclopedic knowledge of ingredients, instinct for visual storytelling, and ability to translate culture into cuisine. His work continues to shape Le Basque’s identity at the intersection of gastronomy, design, and experience.

CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

IAN PERRIS

Born and trained in Britain, Ian Perris built his career within the rarefied world of English private service, where discretion, timing, and precision define excellence. Before co-founding Le Basque, Ian held distinguished roles in some of England’s most prestigious households, including serving as butler at Althorp, the Spencer family estate, and later overseeing service at Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London.

His career placed him at the center of royal protocol and high-profile diplomatic entertaining, refining a philosophy he still upholds today: service should never be seen, only felt.

In 1992, Ian relocated to Miami to co-found Le Basque, bringing the composure and discipline of British hospitality to a city ready for elevation. At Le Basque, he oversees service standards and client experience, ensuring every event unfolds with seamless grace, quiet authority, and impeccable timing.
