“Tomatoes from the potager... Cucumbers with garden herbs… “
Tomatoes from the potager….
Cucumbers with garden herbs.
Flowers gathered for the table.
Berries for dessert.
Linden for shade and arrangements.
"At Château Le Fresne, summer's harvest finds its way onto the table in familiar dishes, family recipes, and small pleasures meant to be shared slowly beneath the trees."
The setting was grand, but the feeling was wonderfully natural. Seasonal ingredients, garden-fresh details, and a table designed for lingering made the whole affair feel like the most elegant sort of afternoon in the country.
”The vinaigrette remains a closely guarded château secret. We can tell you it was excellent. That is about as much as we're permitted to say…"
The garden was invited. It brought lunch.
We let the garden choose the menu. It has excellent taste.
The vegetables were showing off. We let them.
Fresh from the garden and behaving beautifully.
A very good day for being outside and over-ordering.
“One more piece?” “It would be rude not to.”
Dessert arrived in the form of a homemade berry tart, generous with crème pâtissière and best enjoyed slowly, preferably with coffee and nowhere else to be.
A berry tart still warm with the feeling of a country kitchen, followed by coffee and conversation that lingered long after the plates were cleared.
The tart was homemade, the berries were beautiful, and nobody was in any particular hurry to leave the table.
