THE SCOPE
The annual event for Bank of America Private Bank is one of the centerpieces of the calendar for collectors who travel to Miami for Art Basel. For many years, Bank of America has partnered with the Rubell Museum, with the evening coinciding with the museum’s own opening of Art Week.
Each year, Bank of America’s Global Events division tasks Le Basque with developing a concept tied to the exhibitions opening at the museum. In 2024, one of the featured works was El Anatsui’s Another Man’s Cloth, 2006. The large-scale work transforms thousands of discarded aluminum bottle caps, joined by hand with copper wire, into a surface that hangs and folds like cloth.
Rather than reproduce the work, Le Basque looked to its construction and rhythm. Lengths of rope, hand-tied knots and overlapping panels of woven reed were designed by the team to create a loose architectural framework within the space. Tropical flowers appeared sparingly among the ropes, bringing color and a distinctly Miami character. The installation greeted guests on arrival and incorporated Bank of America’s step and repeat.
Le Basque also worked with the newly installed Jon & Vinny’s restaurant at the Rubell Museum to provide service for more than 500 guests. Our work included station designs for their signature pizzas, concepts for passed bites and a pasta station in the garden.
