A Basque Mountain Wedding where Tradition is Reimagined
For Le Basque, this project carried added meaning. Founder Alejandro Muguerza is from this region, and the approach reflected that familiarity—grounded in the culture, the food, and the traditions of how celebrations unfold in this part of northern Spain. Rather than over design, the focus was on simplicity and environment. When the location is this strong, the right move is to step back and let it lead.
Surrounded by mountains, a sailcloth tent was set into a mown field on the estate. In the months leading up to the event, wildflowers were sown along the approach, creating a natural sense of arrival. Fire pits encircled the tent, while large branches from the surrounding forest were used to anchor the interior poles.
Locally made pottery, traditional fabrics, and classic service uniforms completed the setting—resulting in something both timeless and entirely of its place.
